Description:

Abstract:

The dataset indicates the post-Hurricane Hugo stand delineation for the Santee Experimental Forest. The delineations were made from 1:12,000 color infrared photographs. Dr. Shain from Clemson University made the delineations from the aerial photography.

Purpose:

The purpose of the data is to indicate how tree size and stands were altered after Hurricane Hugo in 1989. Such information is important for research on ecological sucession and recovery.

Feb. 2012: Metadata edited for SEF Database.

The delineations were made from 1:12,000 color infrared photographs by Dr. Shain of Clemson University. Attributes were derived from interpreted size and species classes. The stand boundaries, as drawn on transparent overlays were transfered to a base map of compartment boundaries. The stands were then digitized from based maps.
